SENIOR TALENT SHOW

We believe that talent is ageless, and seniors' spirits are boundless. Each year, on the last Saturday in April, at our Chelsea Day Festival, we sponsor a Senior Talent Show, featuring musicians and magicians, dancers and singers, many well into their 80s. Enthusiastic crowds cheer for their favorites as the performers complete for prizes. This event is an important part of our mission of promoting a positive image of aging to the community, and to seniors themselves.

If you are interested in participating, would like to be notified about the Senior Talent Show, or if you would like to help sponsor the event, please call us at (212) 260-6200.

ELFING

During the holiday season, hundreds of volunteer "elves" brighten the lives of our seniors by delivering donated gifts and spending time with an isolated senior. For most of our seniors, the gifts our elves deliver are the only gifts they receive during the season. A visit from a volunteer, who brings holiday cheer, can boost the spirits of a lonely senior when they are without family or other friends.

If you would like to become an elf, or would like to donate gifts appropriate for frail seniors, please call our Volunteer Coordinator, Howie Square, at (212) 260-6200 .

VALENTINE'S DAY

Valentine's Day is a very special day for us at Visiting Neighbors because we love letting people know we care. Children from local schools make creative (and often funny) cards for our seniors and when we have the resources, we remember the day with a special gift for every senior.

OUR SOURCES OF FUNDING

Our programs and services are funded by a combination of individual donations, community and corporate support, grants form corporations and government funding.

This purposeful blend of support enables us to respond to needs of seniors with greater flexibility than those programs that rely on a single funder, but it also makes de the job of raising enough money to improve and expand our programs a greater challenge.
